How to use the Cold Brew System
Brewing delicious cold brew with your Shelbru system is easy!
Add Coffee: Place the stainless steel dual-filter into one carafe. Fill the filter with 100g (3.5oz) of coarse-ground coffee (ground for cold brew or French Press).
Add Water: Slowly pour cold, filtered water into the carafe up to the "MAX" line.
Brew: Secure the brewing lid on the carafe. Let steep for 12-24 hours at room temperature or in the fridge.
Swap & Serve: After brewing, remove the filter. Swap the brewing lid with the pour spout lid on the carafe.
Enjoy: Dilute your cold brew concentrate with water or milk (start with 1 part concentrate to 3-4 parts liquid) and serve over ice.
Repeat: While enjoying your first batch, start a new one in your second carafe!

What grind size do I use for cold brew?
Medium-coarse to coarse-ground coffee is recommended. Set the grinder to produce particles in the range of 1.0~1.6mm, or follow the recommended settings for French Press or Cold Brew as suggested by the grinder manufacturers. Alternatively, if you purchase your beans from a café or roastery, ask them to grind the beans for you.
How do I clean the cold brew system?
All parts of the Shelbru Cold Brew System are dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. Alternatively, you can gently hand wash in warm water, with mild soap and a non-abrasive cleaning cloth.
How to use the Smart Canister
Before you start: Make sure to fully charge the lid using the USB-C charger included in the box.
1. Add your coffee beans to the Smart Canister. Do not fill past the "MAX" line.
2. Twist the Smart Lid clockwise to close. Push the button on the lid to activate the vacuum process. The vacuum process will stop automatically once the lid detects the optimal pressure level.
3. To open the Smart Canister, push the button again to release the vacuum seal. Twist counter-clockwise to open the lid.
How do I clean the Smart Canister?
Use a damp towel to wipe the surface of the lid. DO NOT wash under running water or put it in the dishwasher.
DO NOT store Smart Canister in the refrigerator or freezer.
The jar is dishwasher-safe.
Do NOT submerge the lid in water or use a dishwasher, as the lid contains electronic circuits. Doing so will void your warranty.
What do the Smart Canister light settings mean?
Green: When you push the button down OR automatic vacuum process initiated.
Flashing Green: Green light will flash twice when vacuum seal is released.
Blue: Lid is charging - the light will turn off when charging is complete. You can use the lid while charging.
Flashing Red: Battery level has reached 20% OR user error message.
What is the Smart Canister's battery size and charging time?
Shelbru Smart Canister uses a 1500mAh lithium-ion battery and takes 3~4 hours to fully charge.
How many vacuum cycles does the Smart Canister perform from a fully charged battery?
You can perform approximately 330 vacuum cycles. If you perform one vacuum cycle every day, the battery can last for about 300 days theoretically. Considering re-vacuum cycles and standby consumption, you can expect the battery to last for 180~200 days.
What else can I store in the Smart Canister?
In addition to coffee beans, you can store any dry food that is sensitive to oxygen and moisture. Examples include tea, nuts and seeds, dried fruits, grains and cereals, flour and baking ingredients, dried herbs and spices, snacks, pasta, and rice, etc.
Please be aware that when you release the vacuum, any dry food stored with small/fine particles such as ground coffee may splash and adhere to the bottom of the lid. You can clean the bottom surface using a soft cloth or brush.
Is there a filter that blocks particles from entering the Smart Canister vacuum system?
Yes, the Shelbru Smart Canister features a PERMANENT filter designed to protect the vacuum system. You can remove the silicon filter for washing and then reinstall it for reuse.
