How do I heat the milk?
On a stovetop. Subminimal have designed a unique the FlowTip Milk Jug specifically for this purpose. It features a heat resistant handle so that it can be used on all heating elements. Alternatively, you can heat your milk in the microwave (using a microwave safe container of course!) although it is harder to achieve the exact temperature you want.
What milk types can I use with the NanoFoamer?
The NanoFoamer is able to be used with all milk types however, using fresh, full cream milk will yield the best results. Full cream milk has a higher fat content that gives the milk a delicious creamy texture. Homogenized milk and skim milk also work, as do milk alternatives such as Almond milk and Oat milk but each milk type yields slightly different results on the foam texture.
What temperature should my milk be to create microfoam?
55°C is the best temperature for creating silky, smooth microfoam and enhancing the perceived sweetness of the milk.
If you like your cappuccino extra hot, then consider going up to 70°C but never more than that, as the proteins break down and the milk can start tasting burned.
Can I create microfoam with cold milk?
The NanoFoamer works with cold milk, but the microfoam created feels denser and won't flow quite as nicely as when the milk is heated to 55°C. It makes an excellent iced latte in the summertime, however.
How do I clean the NanoScreens?
Turn the NanoFoamer on under running water, or in a glass of water immediately after each use. This ensures that any milk residue ejects from the blades and screens. Run it in a glass of soapy water for a deeper clean.
Can I use the NanoFoamer to blend powders, such as chocolate powder, into my milk?
Yes, but only after you remove the NanoScreen from the impeller, otherwise the powder will cause the Nanoscreen to become clogged.
Can the NanoFoamer be washed in the dishwasher?
No, as it is an electrical device. The NanoFoamer is watertight when closed, so you can comfortably wash it under running water.
How is the NanoFoamer powered?
The original NanoFoamer and the NanoFoamer V2 use two AA batteries. The NanoFoamer Lithium runs on a lithium ion battery and is rechargeable.
How long will the batteries last in my NanoFoamer?
The NanoFoamer only runs for about 30 seconds when foaming milk for a cappuccino so you can make at least 50 cups before you start noticing the motor slowing down. The motor slowing down is a good indication that your batteries need recharging or replacing.
